The Housing and Construction Standing Committee has instructed the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) to expedite the completion of housing projects for government employees, as reported on November 29 by a source.
During a meeting, the Director General of FGEHA reported that four projects initiated in 2020 faced delays due to steep increases in material prices. Despite a 34% booking in Chaklala Heights Apartments, construction had to stopped. The DG stressed the need to issue new contracts based on current rates.
Senator Afnanullah Khan voiced concern about the project’s delayed start, highlighting previous assurances given to the committee regarding its timely commencement.
Having invested PKR 258 million so far, the committee chair directed FGEHA officials to promptly engage with Senators Saifullah and Fida Muhammad to swiftly address the complexities of the issue. The meeting underscored the importance of transparency, efficiency, and accountability in ensuring the on-time completion of government housing projects.
