Lahore: Pakistan Railway receives 46 new modern coaches for its passengers

Pakistan Railways imported 46 coaches from China as its first consignment, increasing the country’s residents’ ability to travel. Moreover, the department will also receive 200 brand-new freight wagons from China in the coming days.

At its carriage factory in Islamabad, Pakistan Railways is getting ready to start building 184 coaches. These coaches include passenger and cargo coaches.

As part of the technology-transfer element of the contract, Pakistan Railways will shortly start producing 620 wagons.  The wagons will produced at its workshops in Mughulpura and Risalpur after receiving several consignments of 200 modern goods/freight wagons from China.

A year ago, in November 2021, the federal government signed an agreement with China Railway Construction Corporation Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Company for the provision of 230 high-speed coaches for PR to upgrade and improve long-distance passenger services in the country.
