According to details, CDA chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa initiated the directive during a meeting on geospatial land survey and encroachment held on Monday. The chairman emphasised the need to utilize modern technology, including satellite imagery provided by SPARCO and drone surveillance. These technologies will play a vital role in identifying the encroachments and tracking the changes in land use across the capital.

CDA has already conducted surveys in the major hubs, including markets, to mark mapping violations and irregularities. The chairman instructed the teams to conduct continuous surveillance and use real-time imaging to detect encroachments and take timely action.

The meeting also discussed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Developing streamlined geospatial surveys and establishing clear timelines were among the top considerations. A proposal for daily monitoring and reporting was also presented, along with close coordination among all relevant CDA formations and the district administration.
