CDA addressed Islamabad’s encroachment problem in a parliamentary panel hosted by the NA Committee

According to news sources, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NA) organized a parliamentary session. The session was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Hussain Deharr. During the session, the NA decided to address the persisting issue of encroachment in Islamabad by engaging with the CDA through the MOI .The purpose is to explore alternative strategies to resolve the issue. As per the information obtained, the National Assembly Standing Committee has taken the initiative to personally address the issue of unauthorized developments encroaching upon government-owned land. Mr. Ahmed Hussain Deharr, a reputable Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), presided over the NA committee panel. To further address the matter, the standing committee decided to contact the CDA through the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

Furthermore, the National Assembly Standing Committee also had an open-minded discussion on the “Calling Attention Notice” put forward by Ms. Asia Azeem. She is a Member of the National Assembly (MNA). This notice relates to the sale and lease of commercial buildings that could potentially be used for residential purposes.

Furthermore, the Committee Members also talked about their growing concerns regarding the major encroachments. These encroachments are occurring more frequently in various markets and commercial sectors.

Tackling unapproved structures and land occupancy in the Capital City

Moreover, a significant portion of land in the Capital City is occupied by apartment and high-rise structures .The authorities have not issued valid completion certificates for this occupied area. Numerous property owners have faced difficulties in obtaining completion certificates from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) upon the completion of their projects due to violations of the master plan or layout plan. Moreover, to discuss the urgency of the situation, the National Assembly Standing Committee decided to get in touch with CDA management.
