Punjab, November 19, 2024: Due to an alarming smog crisis in Punjab, specifically Lahore, the Central Business District (CBD) has temporarily suspended all site construction activities. The Lahore High Court and the Punjab Government directed the suspension to improve the air quality and safeguard public health.

The Chief Executive Officer of CBD Punjab, Mr Imran Amin, said, “As an environmentally conscious authority, we fully support the Punjab government’s robust measures to combat smog. Halting construction is a necessary step to reduce pollution and foster a healthier environment for Lahore’s residents.”
In addition to suspending construction activities, the authority has initiated a plantation drive to increase Lahore’s green cover. Citizens, businesses, and organizations are advised to adopt environmentally responsible practices such as reducing vehicle use, avoiding waste burning, and opting for eco-friendly construction methods.
The work on key CBD projects like Walton Road Upgradation and Major Ishaq Shaheed flyover is still progressing. The former has completed the asphalt work, whereas the flyover will soon be open for traffic.
