World Bank Supports Lahore in Promotion of Green Buildings

The  World Bank Supports Lahore in Promotion of Green Buildings. WB is going to assist the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) in promoting green building practices according to a report in the main newspaper on June 2.

LDA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who is also Lahore Commissioner, met with a delegation from the World Bank. The meeting took place at the LDA Office Senior Private Sector Specialist Charles Schneider and Private Sector Specialist Reshma Aftab were part of the delegation. The World Bank agreed to support green buildings in Lahore during the meeting. The World Bank supports Lahore in its endeavors to create sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings.

The discussion closed by encouraging the private sector, builders, and other stakeholders to invest in and promote green buildings. To help with this objective, World Bank experts will give technical assistance and training to programme officers.

Furthermore, during the conference, the LDA shared that they have increased the ratio of rooftop gardening to 50% in their guidelines. They are actively encouraging building owners to engage in rooftop gardening and install solar systems. The authority is taking steps for the promotion of green building practices including rooftop gardens. Moreover, private housing complexes have also commenced plantation drives.
