The groundbreaking ceremony took place for the M9-N5 link road interchange in Kathore, KHI

A notable accomplishment was achieved by the Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, during the stone-laying ceremony of the M9-N5 link road interchange in the Kathore KHI area revealed a news source on the 10th January 2024.

In the ceremony, CM Baqar stressed the need for laying the interchange on the M9 motorway to fill the last gap of the traffic flow from the industrial arteries of Kathore Karachi (KHI) through the M9-N5 link road project This extension seeks to increase accessibility to the hinterland.

Interestingly, Pakistan’s first only based on traffic revenue is the M9-N5 link road project, without equity, minimum revenue guarantees, or provincial government subsidy.

The concessionaire will manage both the operations and maintenance of the project project for the first 23 years during which time the provincial government will earn traffic revenue.

CM Baqar once again assured the timely provision of the provincial government with the required funds for construction under the agreement in place. He expressed hope that the FWO (Frontier Works Organization) would stick to the 12-month deadline. This is also provided in the contract, for building the interchange.
