PM advises compliance to COP27 agreements

The establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund by the COP27 conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, was a global recognition of the uncertainties of climate change.  As he reiterated his prior warning that what occurred in Pakistan during the monsoon season would not remain in Pakistan.

The prime minister stated that the catastrophic floods in Pakistan had affected 33 million people. Also, it killed hundreds and caused more than $30 billion in damage to the country’s agriculture, industry, infrastructure, and animals. He expressed gratitude to the donor nations, organizations, and philanthropists for their assistance to flood survivors.

Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman,  also spoke at the ceremony, saying that resilience was the key to a sustainable future. “It’s not about charity; it’s about climate justice.” Developing nations do not have the resources to deal with climate-related crises.”
