Islamabad, October 24, 2024: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has highlighted a significant concern about fraudulent entities using SIM cards of deceased to file tax returns. These SIM cards are linked to the deceased people’s CNIC and are used to file tax returns. The situation is compromising the integrity of the tax system.

PTA to Block SIM Cards of deceased
In an attempt to control these activities, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made a counter statement. From October 15, 2024, all the SIM cards belonging to deceased people will be blocked.
Deceased people’s families can transfer SIM cards to their names before October 15th. To avoid permanent SIM deactivation, such families must visit their nearest franchise with the necessary documents, including the deceased’s death certificate.
