The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has cautioned all individuals who have not filed their income tax returns, emphasizing the potential disconnections of crucial utility services, as reported in a prominent newspaper on December 4.

Moreover, the FBR has initiated the issuance of notifications to non-filers, encompassing those who have never fulfilled this legal obligation. As per the recently introduced Section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, failure to comply with income tax regulations could lead to the termination of vital utility services.
In addition, those who neglect to file their income tax returns risk losing access to electricity, gas, and mobile phone/SIM services. However, this groundbreaking initiative aims to establish a direct correlation between tax adherence and the provision of essential services.

In a bid to simplify the filing procedure, the FBR has provided a QR scan code to expedite income tax return submissions of utility disconnections. Furthermore, taxpayers are encouraged to leverage this innovative method to ensure efficient compliance with tax regulations.
